Acupuncture is one of the oldest, mostcommonly used medical procedures in the world, originating in China more than 2,000years ago. Acupuncture describes a family of procedures (Cupping, Moxibustion, Guasha,
ear, hand and scalp acupuncture) involving stimulation of points on the body or ear, penetrating the skin with thin, solid, metallic needles that are manipulated by the hands or by electrical stimulation. Acupuncture is used for different medical conditions, from pain to depression including weight and stress management issues related to: Internal Medicine, Gynecology, Dermatology, Rheumatology, Psychiatry and other medical related issues.
weight management
A weight loss treatment with acupuncture involves inserting hair-thin needles into a particular spot on the skin that are believed to help the body function properly. Once the root of the problem is identifi ed, the acupuncturist will then insert needles into different areas of the body or the ear in order to help improve the body functioning in a way that will promote weight loss, balance and also work on reducing cravings for certain foods and promote a decrease in natural appetite.
pain management
Acupuncture has been proven to help treat pain, both chronic and acute. Appears to stimulate the release of endorphins and enkephalins, which are chemicals that the body naturally makes for pain relief. Neurotransmitters transmit nerve impulses to the brain and, in turn, these actions alter the perception of pain to the brain and the body.
smoking cessation
Smoking tobacco is energetically hot and puts heat into your body, particularly the lungs. Smokers sense a brief period of relaxation at the beginning and this
is due to the heat of the smoke moving any stagnant Qi in the body. The problem is that this relaxation effect is only temporary, and Qi stagnation will usually occur again. In the long term, the heat damages the lungs, which leads to an escalation of imbalance and disharmony in your body.
other treatment with acupuncture include :
Nausea, infertility, sinus problems, migraine headaches, stress , insomnia and depression just to include a few of them. Our Doctors of Acupuncture will assess your needs in order to help your body go back to it’s natural balance.
